Prussian period and German Empire

After the end of the Duchy of Nassau in 1866 due to Prussian annexation, Wiesbaden's time as the state capital also came to an end.

As the seat of the district president, however, it remained the administrative capital of Nassau. The regular presence of Kaiser Wilhelm II in Wiesbaden increased the city's appeal to spa guests from Germany and abroad, who shaped its appearance.
