Christ received his training on his father's farm and attended courses at the Hof Geisberg agricultural college.
From 1918-34, he was chairman of the old Geisberg association. Christ was involved in the Nassau district farmers' association, on whose board he had sat since 1921, he was chairman of the agricultural district association, a member of the advisory board of the agricultural trade association in Kassel and of the regional cultural office's chamber of inspection there.
Christ tried to convince the farming community in the Wiesbaden administrative district of the need to take out livestock insurance so that farmers would not be left without financial compensation in the event of damage.
He had been a member of the Wiesbaden district council since 1904. In 1920, he became a member of the Nassau municipal parliament for the district of Wiesbaden as a representative of the Farmers' Party. He was temporarily represented on the state committee there. He was a member of the provincial committee until 1926 and the district committee as second deputy until 1930. In the meantime, Christ had become a member of the German National People's Party (DNVP) and entered parliament for them in the second election to the German Reichstag in May 1924 as a representative of constituency 19 (Hesse-Nassau). Christ joined the NSDAP on 01.05.1933.
