Ziemer, Max
Ziemer, Max
Educator, local and regional historian
Born: 21.08.1867 in Röglin (Belgrade district, Pomerania)
died: 11.04.1948 in Wiesbaden
After training as a secondary school teacher, Ziemer worked in Senftenberg in Lower Lusatia. In 1912, he took over the secondary school in Idstein as principal, which he ran until his retirement in 1931. In 1932, he moved to Wiesbaden with his family.
From 1914, Ziemer was intensively involved with the local history of Idstein. Based on his studies of archives, church registers and critical literature, he compiled building blocks on the history of Idstein, which he published in the newspaper supplement "Idsteiner Heimatschau", which he founded and edited from 1925 onwards. He also presented the results of his research into Idstein and Nassau history in the "Nassauische Annalen" and the "Nassauische Heimatblätter".
Because of his services to Nassau history, the Historical Commission for Nassau elected him a member; the Association for Nassau Antiquities and Historical Research appointed him a corresponding member. He was the first chairman of the Familienkundliche Gesellschaft für Nassau und Frankfurt e.V. for several years.
A street in Idstein was named after him.
