Sportverein Wiesbaden 1899 e.V. (SV Wiesbaden)

Sportverein Wiesbaden 1899 e.V. (SV Wiesbaden) celebrated its greatest successes in 1964 and 1965, when it played twice for the German amateur championship, but lost both times in the final against Hannover 96. From the mid-1980s until the 1993/94 season, the club was a permanent fixture in the Oberliga Hessen. However, the arrival of an investor who failed to fulfill his obligations almost led to the club's bankruptcy. The first team was disbanded and SV Wiesbaden started all over again in the lowest division in 1996. In the 2009/10 season, it played in the Wiesbaden Group League (7th league/fourth highest amateur division).

SV Wiesbaden has also had a cricket section for several years. The first team has reached the final of the Hessian championship several times.

The club originally emerged from the soccer section of Wiesbadener Turngesellschaft J.P. von 1879, which was founded in 1899. In 1904, the footballers left the club as a whole and founded SV Wiesbaden. The first and so far only international player produced by SV Wiesbaden was Otto Nicodemus (1886-1966), who played his only international match in 1909. Germany won 1:0 against Switzerland.

The club's greatest son was the future national coach and world champion Helmut Schön, who began his coaching career at SV Wiesbaden in 1951/52. Today, SV Wiesbaden plays its home games at the Helmut Schön Sportpark, the former stadium on Berliner Straße.
