Krücke, Georg Christian Heinrich
Lawyer, notary, Lord Mayor
Born: 08.07.1880 in Limburg an der Lahn
died: 24.08.1961 in Wiesbaden
The lawyer and political scientist worked as a lawyer and notary in Limburg from 1906-10 and sat for the National Liberal Party in the city parliament there. A resident of Wiesbaden since 1910, he was a member of the Wiesbaden City Council from 1914-30 as a member of the German People's Party (DVP), including 1928-30 as Deputy Chairman of the City Council.
On February 11, 1930, he was elected as the new Lord Mayor. The election process was accompanied by tumultuous riots, which were largely provoked by the NSDAP. His official inauguration took place on 28.03.1930. On 3 June 1933, Krücke resigned from office due to massive pressure from the National Socialists. After the collapse of the Nazi state, he was reinstated by the Americans as Lord Mayor (21.04.1945-11.08.1946).
He then headed the Wiesbaden Office for Property Control and Restitution and subsequently the state office of the same name. In 1956-60, Krücke, who had joined the CDU in 1946 but switched to the LDP, the forerunner of the FDP, in the same year, was once again a member of the Wiesbaden City Council. In 1955, he was awarded honorary citizenship of the city of Wiesbaden.
