Swimming Club Wiesbaden 1911 e.V. (SCW)

The Schwimm-Club Wiesbaden 1911 e.V. (SCW) was founded in 1911 by students of the grammar school swimming club and initially developed around the Schierstein harbor. The club was re-established in August 1920.

In 1925, the club opened its club pool at Schiersteiner Hafen and laid the foundations for the DLRG rescue station by setting up a rescue service at the tip of the harbor in the early 1920s. At the insistence of the club, swimming was introduced as a compulsory subject in Wiesbaden schools in 1924. In 1954, the indoor swimming pool in Mainzer Straße became the club's training facility.

In addition to swimming, sailing, yachting and canoeing, water polo and camping are among the active divisions of the club. The SCW is active in both recreational and competitive sports. The swimmers became German team champions in 2008. However, the best individual athletes have left the SCW due to the less than ideal training conditions.
