Fürstchen, Georg Friedrich
Architect
born: 12.01.1848 in Biebrich
died: 27.05.1904 in Wiesbaden
Fürstchen's main work is the Villa Clementine, which he built in 1878-82 on behalf of the Mainz manufacturer Ernst Mayer. When construction began, the architect was 29 years old and had recently started his own business. He described himself as a spiritual disciple of Gottfried Semper; he had previously delivered his masterpiece with the construction of the town hall in Biebrich (1876).
Fürstchen was "the most important representative of the Italian High Renaissance in Wiesbaden" (Kiesow). In Wiesbaden, he mainly built villas and townhouses: Adolfstraße 14, Sonnenberger Straße 37, Herrngartenstraße 2.
His final resting place is in the ➞ North Cemetery.
