Kunder, chocolate factory

In 1898, Fritz and Hermine Kunder opened a patisserie with an adjoining café in Wilhelmstraße. In order to meet the high demands of their clientele, the family began producing chocolates a few years after opening, which soon became very popular with spa guests. With "Kunders Original Wiesbadener Ananastörtchen", the family created a specialty in 1903 that made the café famous far beyond the state's borders.

After the First World War and the decline due to the occupation, the production of chocolates was discontinued and only the café and confectionery were left in operation. It was not until the economic miracle of the 1950s that the company began to produce various types of pralines again and moved to its current location at Wilhelmstraße 12/corner of Luisenstraße The business is still family-owned.
