Poulet, Laundry
In 1842, the Kohlhaas brothers founded a haberdashery shop in the former "Zum Einhorn" inn in Marktstraße. In 1856, Andreas Kohlhaas acquired the corner building on Marktstraße/Kirchgasse, merged it with the haberdashery store of the widow Dotzheimer and founded a specialist store for ladies' and men's underwear, knitwear and swimwear.
After Joseph Poulet took over the business, he had the old building demolished and erected a new one. With the purchase of the neighboring house in 1897, the lingerie store reached its largest expansion. On its 125th anniversary in May 1967, Mayor Georg Buch awarded the Wäschehaus Poulet the Silver City Plaque for its many years of business activity. On June 30, 2006, after 166 years, the history of Wäschehaus Poulet came to an end.
