Municipal daycare centers - offers and concepts

Over 4,300 children are currently cared for in the 42 municipal daycare centers in all forms of care, mostly full-time. In accordance with the legal mandate (Social Code Book VIII), the following applies to all daycare facilities: "The support mandate includes the upbringing, education and care of the child and relates to the child's social, emotional, physical and mental development."

The professional focus of the pedagogical concepts of the municipal daycare centers have been developed over many years and correspond to the professional requirements and objectives of the Hessian Education Plan (2007). The special quality of the Hessian Education Plan lies primarily in the philosophy of the image of the child as an active and active person.

The individual personality of the child is described in the mission statement of the municipal daycare centers. The child is at the forefront here and educational activities are defined from the child's perspective. Education begins at birth and early educational processes are fundamental to later educational opportunities.

The active appropriation of the world by children as active subjects requires the support and guidance of the family and professionals.

The daycare center department implements this requirement:

  • The long-standing, professional foundations of our work in the 40 (42) municipal daycare centers are constantly reviewed as part of quality management, and new target agreements are successively made.
  • All municipal daycare centers implement one of the three educational concepts.
Montessori education - the individual child is the focus here. The environment in which they spend their day is tailored to their individual physical and psychological needs.
The Freinetplus concept - the focus is on the child as an independent, active learner. Everyday life is characterized by the promotion of children's rights and co-determination for children.
The pyramid method is a holistic concept that supports all children according to their level of development in all areas of development. The aim is to support children in shaping their own lives independently.
