Commissioner for Equal Opportunities in the Labor Market

Field of activity

Equal opportunities in the labor market means that all people should have the same access to the labor market. This is not only about structures in society that create inequalities, but also about individual situations.

People with family responsibilities

Although the proportion of women participating in working life is increasing and more and more fathers are taking on caring and parenting duties, there is still a lot to be done. We can see that it is predominantly mothers who are reducing their working hours and who are affected by work-life balance issues. The issues that often take center stage here are

  • childcare
  • working hours
  • time management
  • Children's sick days
  • Equal opportunities

Support options

Our Equal Opportunities Officer (BCA), Mareike Mauer, supports and advises all recipients of citizens' benefits and their benefit communities, employers and organizations, but of course also the employees and managers of the municipal job center.

This includes in particular the topic of (re-)entering the job market after a family phase, related topics such as childcare, but also general questions about work and training. But also topics such as:

  • Equal opportunities on the labor market for women and men
  • Starting work and training in different working time models (full-time, part-time)
  • Career entry for parents after the family phase
  • Opportunities for single parents
  • Clarification of career prospects
  • Funding opportunities through the municipal job center
  • Securing childcare
