President of the Swedish Parliament, Henry Allard
On September 19, 1975, the President of the Swedish Parliament, Henry Allard, signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.
Henry Allard was born on November 21, 1911 in Örebro, Sweden.
During the Second World War, he was elected to the Second Chamber of the Swedish Parliament in 1943 as a representative of the Swedish Social Democratic Party "Socialdemokraterna". After the constitutional amendment and the introduction of a unicameral system as part of the parliamentary reform in Sweden in 1970, he moved directly to the Riksdag.
He became President of the Riksdag in 1971 and held this post until 1979, after the change to a conservative government in 1976. Between 1956 and 1969, in addition to his political offices, he was also Chairman of the Swedish National Sports Association.
After his death on October 23, 1996 in his home town, the city council honored him by renaming the central park Henry Allard Park.
During the visit of a Swedish parliamentary delegation to Wiesbaden on September 19, 1975, Allard and his companions signed the city's Golden Book at a festive reception in the town hall.
