Henri Grand Duke of Luxembourg and Duke of Nassau

On March 17, Henri Grand Duke of Luxembourg and Duke of Nassau signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.

Henri von Nassau was born on April 16, 1955 at Betzdorf Castle in Betzdorf, Luxembourg.

After studying political science and undergoing military training at the Royal Academy of Sandhurst in England, he returned to Luxembourg as Hereditary Grand Duke and took on his first representative duties with his wife. Following the voluntary abdication of his father Jean, he was sworn in as Grand Duke of Luxembourg on October 7, 2000.

To mark the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the Duchy of Nassau, he visited the former residence of his ducal ancestors on March 17 and 18. During his visit to Wiesbaden, he toured the city palace, which his great-great-great-grandfather Adolph I of Nassau had built at the end of the 1830s. He was then warmly welcomed in the splendidly decorated ballroom of the town hall opposite.

In his speech, Lord Mayor Diehl emphasized the historical connection between Wiesbaden and Luxembourg. Henri expressed his thanks for the warm welcome and confirmed that he would continue these long-standing good relations. He then signed the city's Golden Book.
