Beau Site

In 1776, a plaster mill is said to have been built on the Neresbach where the Beau Site is located today. Its builder was a Hofkammerrat Strupler (or Strüpler or Steupler), who was granted permission to run a restaurant in 1778. In 1838, the merchant Franz Kaspar Nathan founded a loam mill at the end of the Nero Valley, which became the property of August Herz in 1845. In 1850, it was converted into a cold-water spa. Herz opened the restaurant in 1857, which first welcomed guests in 1863 with the "Beau Site" sign. While the rural stay at the Beau Site spa was initially praised for its health benefits, after its conversion into an excursion restaurant in 1877, it was the lawn tennis courts and the rich menu of the restaurant and Viennese café that became the main attraction. In 1907, the town acquired the property and leased it to the Cruziger family, who had also been running the Neroberghotel since 1905. In 1915, during the First World War, the "hostile" French name Beau Site was replaced by "Café Nerotal".

In the following years of crisis, the café went downhill. In 1933, Paul and Rosa Golonsky took over the run-down excursion restaurant. The Beau Site experienced a new heyday, but the upswing was short-lived. The Beau Site was closed at the beginning of the 1940s.

Subsequently, the Beau Site served as the headquarters of a film company and the Adler clothing factory, among others. The large outdoor area, designed as a park, was assigned to the Wiesbaden Tennis and Hockey Club. After the Adler company moved out, the building stood empty until 1983, was foreclosed in 1986 and has been privately owned again since 2012. Following renovation, a restaurant has moved back in.
