Primary school childcare and all-day services

School support associations and independent providers organize after-school care at elementary school on the basis of Section 15 of the Hessian School Act and on behalf of the Office for Social Work. The Department of Primary School Childcare and All-Day Programs advises, supports and subsidizes these educational childcare services and defines the quality standards. All elementary school offer childcare with a total of more than 5,000 places.

There are two care modules to choose from:

  • until 3 p.m. or
  • until 5 p.m., each including lunch and nine weeks of vacation.

The respective offers and childcare concepts depend on the location. Places are allocated directly by the childcare providers at the respective elementary school.
