Daycare centers and daycare for children

The daycare center department is the responsible contact for around 190 daycare centers in Wiesbaden. This applies both to educational standards and to questions of subsidies and service agreements.

The department is divided into the following four areas:

1. municipal daycare centers

In the 40 municipal daycare centers, around 4,300 children are currently cared for in various forms of care (crèche, elementary, after-school care and children's community groups), mainly full-time.All daycare centers comply with the statutory "support mandate" as formulated in Section 22a SGB VIII: "The support mandate includes the upbringing, education and care of the child and relates to the social, emotional, physical and mental development of the child." Section 22a SGB VIII refers to the quality of support in the facilities, which should be ensured and further developed through suitable measures. "This includes the development and use of a pedagogical concept as the basis for the fulfillment of the support mandate as well as the use of instruments and procedures for evaluating the work in the facilities.

2. quality management

As part of quality management, attention is paid to the implementation of the support mandate and the conceptual pedagogical focus in the facilities. Quality management provides information about

  • suitable participation procedures for children and parents (participation)
  • Complaints procedures in personal matters (complaints management)
  • Measures for quality development and assurance, including through the range of further education and training courses on offer

3. place registration exchange and u3 place advice

  • The place registration exchange provides parents with information on available childcare places in daycare facilities from all providers in Wiesbaden.
  • The u3-Platzberatung provides advice and support in the search for childcare for children under the age of 3.

4. support for independent providers and contribution subsidies

The department for funding for independent providers is the point of contact for all questions relating to subsidies and funding for daycare facilities run by independent providers in Wiesbaden. Upon application, parents can receive subsidies for the fees and contributions of the daycare center or the contributions can be waived in accordance with § 90 SGB VIII. Furthermore, parents' associations at elementary school are subsidized according to the specifications of the school authorities.
