Department II - Department of the Mayor

Parks department

The green space office of the state capital Wiesbaden. Focus on greenery - for people and nature

Parks and green spaces, green city squares, the city forest, cemeteries, playgrounds, trees, allotments, tree sponsorships and the animal and plant park Fasanerie - in short: the Wiesbaden Parks Department plans, builds and maintains the urban greenery of the state capital of Hesse and is thus responsible for around 25 percent of Wiesbaden's urban area. Around 250 employees with a wide range of specialist skills such as gardeners, landscape architects, administrative experts, craftsmen, foresters and animal keepers are convinced of the enormous importance of these green spaces for the city and thus also for the health of the people as well as for flora and fauna. The aim is to preserve and improve existing green spaces as well as to develop new ones. These habitats are geared towards the needs of Wiesbaden's citizens on the one hand and the requirements of nature conservation on the other. In this way, the Parks Department ensures the aesthetic, ecological and social functions of the areas for the future. This idea is at the center of our thoughts and actions. Urban greenery is a habitat and a resource!
