Tree care and traffic safety
Wiesbaden's cityscape is characterized by around 43,000 trees, which are located on streets, in parks, playgrounds and cemeteries.
In order to maintain the functionality of the trees for as long as possible, the city trees are regularly cared for and inspected. If a tree shows defects, these are rectified by means of suitable tree care measures. However, if a tree can no longer be guaranteed to be safe for traffic, it must be felled to protect people from danger. However, for every tree that is felled, a young tree is replanted. All measures involving changes to the tree population are coordinated with the Environmental Agency and the Monument Protection Authority of the state capital of Wiesbaden.
