SDG "Gender equality"
In Hessian: "Mensche - lebbe un' lebbe losse"
What is it about and what does the SDG "Gender Equality" mean for the event industry?
SDG 5 stands for gender equality, naturally also within the events industry. For the events industry, as for other sectors, this means equal career opportunities, pay and management positions for women. Events can be used to raise awareness of gender-specific issues and prevent discrimination. Panel talks and specialist lectures should be gender-independent and women should be encouraged and empowered to share their expertise.(Source tw-media.com (opens in a new tab))
How can event planners and their service providers contribute to achieving this goal?
Event planners and their service providers can contribute to gender equality by creating diverse teams, ensuring equal pay and opportunities for advancement, and developing programs to promote women in leadership positions. By consciously designing events, they can address gender-specific issues and create inclusive environments. Networks and platforms for the exchange of women in the industry as well as the implementation of clear policies against discrimination and harassment also contribute to achieving this goal.

How do we implement this?
✓ Provide a point of contact:
- We have an Equal Opportunities Officer at our parent company, TriWiCon, so that affected employees in relevant areas can turn to a competent and neutral point of contact. The Equal Opportunities Officer accompanies job interviews and ensures that the salary brackets for the individual areas are the same for everyone. Additional topics include workplace bullying, parental leave and harassment in the workplace. Our Equal Opportunities Officer works in accordance with the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG).
- AGG training for employees and managers
✓ Equal pay:
- We are affiliated to the collective agreement for the public sector (TVöD) and the collective agreement for trainees in the public sector (TVAöD).
- The pay group is clearly marked in the job advertisement. This applies equally to all applicants.
✓ Equal rights in management positions:
- At our company, over 50% of management positions are held by women.
- 2 out of 4 management positions are held by women.
✓ Diversity at our own events:
- At our Convention Wiesbaden Campus (opens in a new tab) formats, which focus on knowledge transfer, we use both female and male speakers who enrich our various topics with their expertise, because knowledge and skills are gender-independent.
