Wiesbaden Literature Days

The Wiesbaden Literature Days have been held in the Hessian state capital since 1986 and have become a cultural highlight. Czech writer Jaroslav Rudiš is curating the program for the 24th Wiesbadener Literaturtage, which will take place from 24 to 30 September 2025.

Jaroslav Rudiš was born in 1972 in Turnov, Czech Republic, and studied German, history and journalism in Liberec, Zurich and Prague. He now lives in Berlin, among other places.

His international orientation is reflected in his works. He writes in Czech and German and speaks several languages himself. His works are as versatile as his language skills. He works as an author, playwright, screenwriter and musician. In addition to his successful novels such as "Grandhotel" (2006) and "Winterberg's Last Journey" (2019), with which he was also nominated for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize, he founded the Kafka band in 2014 and created the character "Alois Nebel" with comic artist Jaromír Švejdík, which reflects his love of the railroad, among other things.

Rudiš has won numerous prizes for his tragicomic works, including the 2018 Prize of the Houses of Literature and, most recently, the 2024 Mörike Prize of the City of Fellbach. He was also awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2021 for his contribution to understanding between Germans and Czechs. His works have been translated many times.
