Information from the trade register

The trade register, a list of local businesses, is kept by the local authorities. The registration, change of registration and deregistration of a business, a branch or a dependent branch office must be reported.
The transmission of the simple information includes the 3 basic data name/company, address and activity of the trader and is transmitted on request without further checks.

Extended information data, such as private residential address, date of birth, start and, if applicable, end of activity, can be transmitted to non-public bodies (e.g. private individuals) on condition that the person requesting the information can credibly demonstrate a legal interest (§ 14 Para. 8 GewO). In addition to the conclusive presentation by the person requesting the information (information on why additional data is required, e.g. residential address, etc.), the submission of relevant documents (e.g. purchase contract, reminder) is also required.

Please note: This information only concerns information on third-party commercial enterprises.
If you require a registration certificate for your own registered business, you will find the relevant information under "Business registration certificate".
If you require information from the Central Trade Register (which is kept in Bonn and issues certificates of good conduct for tradespeople), you will find all the necessary information under the "Central Trade Register" service.
