Auditing Office
We, the employees of the Audit Office of the State Capital of Wiesbaden, support the entire municipal organization with our independent and objective auditing and consulting services in addition to our statutory mandate of municipal financial control.
In this way, we not only strengthen the municipal bodies in their monitoring duties, but have also set ourselves the goal of creating added value and improving business processes by providing support as a "driving force", "process optimizer" and "risk manager".
We work in an opportunity and risk-oriented manner and communicate in an appreciative way!
The Audit Office pursues the statutory mandate of critically examining ongoing administrative transactions in order to constantly monitor the legality and regularity of the municipality. The primary task is to check whether the local authority's budget funds, which mainly come from public charges, are used properly and professionally in order to prevent misuse or inappropriateness. However, the Audit Office has extended this statutory mandate to include the monitoring of ongoing business. We therefore see it as our task not only to audit administrative activities on an ongoing but ex-post basis. We would also like to take preventative action with an advisory function and provide support and advice in the event of uncertainties.
The advisory function is part of a modern audit. The Audit Office provides independent and objective auditing and advisory services aimed at creating added value and optimizing municipal business processes (see Section 2 of the LHW Audit Regulations). The municipal audit office acts independently of the respective departments and therefore has the sometimes necessary external perspective to (re)evaluate issues.
Consulting is intended to identify possibilities for adjusting an already unsatisfactory actual state to a desired target state. We can provide advisory support during implementation.
In the event of any uncertainties or other need for advice, we are happy to enter into a dialog with the body concerned in advance in order to provide constructive advice. However, in accordance with the principle of independence and against the background of compliance with the self-auditing prohibition, we do not act in a decisive or executive capacity, but only in an advisory capacity. With our trained judgment, we provide an initial assessment of the project so that risks or planning gaps can be identified and addressed appropriately. This allows us to continue working together in a solution-oriented manner.
