Sports Office
Our aim is to maintain and modernize the existing sports facilities in the best possible way, to create new facilities and to expand the range of sports on offer in our city for all citizens. In addition to the comprehensive care, maintenance and upkeep of over 50 municipal sports facilities, including sports fields and playgrounds, large sports halls, athletics facilities and beach volleyball courts, the promotion of sport is another important focus of our work. Currently, over 230 sports clubs listed in the Sports Office's club register receive grants for the care and maintenance of their own facilities, sports events and youth work, among other things.
Once a year, we honor our successful sportswomen and sportsmen from Wiesbaden at a festive sports awards ceremony. They receive recognition for their outstanding achievements in the form of sports plaques and certificates, while we also provide small gifts for the young people.
The Sports Office is made up of ten administrative staff and over 60 employees in and around the sports facilities, including grounds and hall attendants and a maintenance crew for the sports fields. All employees are involved in sport in different ways, which enables us to understand the concerns and needs of sports clubs and athletes very well. Our office is assigned to the department of the Lord Mayor, who works with us to the best of his ability to promote the interests of sport and its clubs in Wiesbaden.
