Anti-corruption officer
As part of its responsibility towards the public in general, as well as towards individual citizens and its employees, the City of Wiesbaden has set itself the goal of developing measures to prevent corruption, continuously reviewing their effectiveness and implementing them sustainably.
An anti-corruption officer has been appointed to develop, manage and implement these measures and to act as a point of contact for citizens and employees of the city administration.
Education, advice and prevention are important pillars of prevention work. The tasks of the anti-corruption officer therefore include raising awareness of the problem and highlighting helpful strategies for preventing and avoiding corruption. The most important prerequisite for this is the integrity of employees on the one hand and transparency in administrative actions on the other. The newly revised "Corruption Prevention" handbook offers valuable support in this regard.
In addition to prevention work, the anti-corruption officer provides assistance in assessing any suspicions that arise or attempts to exert influence. If a suspicion of corruption is justified by the facts, she will work together with municipal institutions, in particular the Audit Office, to clarify the facts and initiate the necessary consequences.
The Anti-Corruption Officer is independent in the performance of her duties and reports directly to the Lord Mayor. The concerns of citizens and employees are treated with absolute confidentiality.
