The Mechtildshausen estate, one of the largest estates in Hesse, is located in the immediate vicinity of the American military airport in Erbenheim and was the emperor's court during the Roman Empire. On a total area of 185 hectares, various types of fruit and vegetables are grown according to organic-biological principles, and cattle, pigs and poultry are also bred. The produce can be purchased directly in the farm stores on the estate.
