Legal office
The Legal Department is the internal legal department of the City of Wiesbaden. The Legal Department does not offer general legal advice to persons outside the city administration.
The legal advisors of the Legal Department represent the city before the courts and advise the city committees, departments, specialist offices and municipal enterprises in all legal matters. The tasks of the Legal Department also include the drafting of contracts and involvement in the issuing of legal documents (ordinances, statutes and administrative directives). The Legal Office is also the right point of contact for questions relating to municipal law.
The Legal Office also houses the office of the Objections Committee of the State Capital of Wiesbaden. If a hearing is held by the Objections Committee in objection proceedings against administrative acts of the Lord Mayor or the Magistrate, the legal advisors of the Legal Department represent the Lord Mayor in the chair.
The official data protection officer of the state capital of Wiesbaden is assigned to the Legal Department. All citizens have the opportunity to contact the data protection officer if they have any questions about how the City of Wiesbaden handles their personal data.
Other tasks of the Legal Department include providing the arbitration boards and local courts with the necessary equipment and arranging elections for arbitration board and local court members.
