Aukammtal facilities
The Aukammtal facilities are part of the Aukamm spa area in Wiesbaden-Sonnenberg. To the north of the Aukammtal facilities are private sanatoriums and clinics with spacious green areas and the Aukammtal thermal baths. To the south, the Aukammallee runs parallel to the valley. The facilities are directly connected to the rear spa facilities in Rambachtal and thus form a pedestrian green link between the Kurhaus and the spa area or Wiesbaden-Bierstadt.
The Aukammtal facilities were built in the 1970s and designed with large lawns, numerous individual trees, some of which are exotic, the Aukammbach stream with a variety of shrub beds alongside the stream and a wide main path. The Aukamm stream flows through the landscaped area in an artificially created stream. Still water zones alternate with flowing areas, and in some places the water ripples over thresholds down towards Rambach. The curved shoreline and varied bank vegetation create the impression of a natural body of water. As there are a few small fish here and there, the kingfisher can also be seen here. Numerous niches with seating directly by the stream or a little higher up on the path invite you to relax. Further east in the Aukammtal valley is a large natural area and a connected garden area.
From the 1950s onwards, intensive agricultural and horticultural use of the valley floor declined and nature reclaimed the area. Since around 1990, the near-natural area has been renaturalized through systematic maintenance measures. The high road embankment of the B 455 and an American sports facility form the end of the valley to the east. The Apothecary's Garden is also located nearby.
