Pharmacy garden
The Apothekergarten is located between the Kurpark and Bierstadt on the edge of the city center. The medicinal plants on display there were selected for their health-promoting effects and document which plants can help people with a wide variety of ailments. Since the garden was inaugurated in 1986, over 250 medicinal plants can be seen in 28 beds over an area of 5,500m2 from mid-May to the beginning of October.
The beds are arranged according to the effect of the plants and their medicinal and other uses for people. They are dedicated to topics such as "liver and bile complaints", "digestive complaints" and "heart complaints". In addition to the plant names, there is information on whether the root, flower or leaf is used and on its healing properties. A special bed displays various dye plants. Here you will find blue, yellow, green, black and red dyeing plants such as broom, thistle and camomile. In the western entrance area there is a small pond where dragonflies and frogs have found a habitat.
Every Saturday afternoon from the end of May to the end of September, pharmacists from the Friends of the Pharmacy Garden Wiesbaden give a voluntary guided tour of the educational and show garden. The garden is a popular excursion destination for spa guests, clinic visitors, walkers, people interested in the subject and many school classes.
