Drinking water monitoring

Drinking water is our most important foodstuff. To ensure impeccable quality, the public health department monitors the water supply systems from extraction to the consumer's tap on the basis of the Drinking Water Ordinance. This is done through regular local inspections of the condition of the system and checks on drinking water quality.

This includes the waterworks of public supply companies, domestic wells, drinking water installations in buildings where water is supplied to consumers as part of a public or commercial activity (e.g. hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, day-care centers, sports facilities, apartment buildings) as well as mobile and temporary installations (e.g. coaches, trains, mobile food stalls and fairs/markets).

In the event of complaints, measures are taken to restore the drinking water quality or the perfect condition of the system.
