Mikfeld, Esther Maria Helga

Politician

Born: 26.02.1934 in Wiesbaden

died: 01.11.2005 in Wiesbaden

After attending secondary school for economics and other subjects, Mikfeld initially worked for several years in publishing (1952-60) and in an industrial company.

In 1980, after 20 years in a tax consultancy firm, she moved to the office of the Hessian state parliament, where she worked until 1997. She had already joined the CDU in 1967 and held the office of district chairwoman from 1970 and deputy state chairwoman of the Women's Union from 1971. She was a member of the Federal Executive Committee from 1977. From June 1973 to November 1974, she was a member of the Hessian state parliament. She was also a member of the Wiesbaden City Council from 1972-81 and 1985-89. She then served as an honorary city councillor until 1997.

She was particularly interested in and committed to women's issues. Together with FDP politician Margret Funke-Schmitt-Rink, for example, she campaigned for the appointment of a municipal women's representative, who began her work in Wiesbaden in 1986. In addition, she was particularly committed to the creation of a committee for women's affairs at the city council, which she chaired as its first chairperson from 1988. Mikfeld had been treasurer of the Office for Civic Women's Work e.V. since 1979 and was the patron of the Wiesbaden Mothers' Convalescent Home for many years.

In 1997, she received the Gold Citizens' Medal for her services and was awarded the title of "City Elder". Her grave is located in the South Cemetery.
