Integration work in the state capital Wiesbaden

Integration work in the sense of efforts to integrate immigrants, people with a migration background and foreign cultures into urban society has a long tradition in Wiesbaden. Since 2001, the promotion of integration has been a designated focus of municipal policy. With the establishment of the Residents' and Integration Office (from the end of 2010, the Office for Immigration and Integration) for all issues relating to migration and integration, integration work has been anchored as a cross-sectional task in the city administration. The Caritas Association Wiesbaden-Rheingau-Taunus operates some of its migration advice centers on the premises of the office.

The first integration concept for Wiesbaden was developed in a participatory process in 2004. The integration work focused on the following fields of action: Education and qualification as a key competence for the long-term success of integration, professional qualification and sustainable integration into the labor market; health care and provision, the use of the integration potential of sport as well as the appreciation of cultural and religious diversity as an opportunity and challenge in all areas of coexistence and their constructive handling. The city-wide integration concept is updated every five years.
