Past events

Autumn 2024 - Pop-up prototype in Klarenthal: An experiment for more neighborhood

A special project took place in Klarenthal in fall 2024: The pop-up prototype for neighborhood interaction was tested! The aim was to create an open and flexible meeting place in the district that promotes interaction between residents.

Temporary elements were set up at several locations - sometimes as a place for spontaneous conversations, sometimes as a creative hands-on station. Many people took the opportunity to share their thoughts on their own living environment and think together about the future of their neighborhood.

With the pop-up prototype, studiointerim successfully tested an innovative concept for promoting neighborhood interaction. The project impressively demonstrated the importance of easily accessible participation formats. The direct exchange on site was particularly well received. The results of this trial are now to be incorporated into future urban development processes.

The project was awarded the Future Prize of the Großer Frankfurter Bogen (opens in a new tab).

June 2024 - Painting competition

54 entries were received for a drawing competition on the subject of "my favorite playground". The three winners drawn by lot each received a swimming pool voucher. All the pictures were forwarded to the Parks Department for inspiration.

May 2024 - Information event on the future of the CarlO site

On 13.05.2024, the results of the competition were presented to interested citizens at the third and, for the time being, last information event. The designs and the extent to which the citizens' wishes had been incorporated were discussed at various themed tables and display walls.

October 2023 - Kick-off for the competition - information and participation event

On 10.10.2023, the Citizens' Dialogue entered its second round. The aim was to sharpen the content and ideas from the first event and look at them together: What can we give the planners from the competition office and what content should be addressed in the competition? Citizens who were unable to attend the event had the opportunity to take part in an online survey.

July 2023 - Sustainability goes to school - Help shape Klarenthal now

On 06.07.2023, the Volksbildungswerk Klarenthal celebrated a sustainability festival on the former school grounds. Around 120 children and parents took part. The children "conquered" the area with curiosity and amazement. Seat-balls were made so that the grounds would soon be in full bloom. Bags were also printed and street paint was used to give the area another colorful coat of paint.

Many interested neighbors came to have a look around and the Assorti group attracted a lot of attention with three dance performances.

June 2023 - Clean-up as part of "Wiesbaden engages"

Organized by the Volksbildungswerk Klarenthal, the site was prepared for future interim use with the help of dedicated companies (Naspa and bluetelligence) and helpers from the urban planning and environmental departments. Moss was removed from the large terrace, garbage was collected, some bushes were cut back to make the paths more accessible, a bookcase was installed and the small wall in the entrance area was embellished with paint.

June 2023 - Think tank experimental room CarlO

At the kick-off event on 14.06.2023, interested citizens had the opportunity to find out more about the "CarlO Experimental Space" project, ask questions on various topics and contribute their ideas and visions. Many interesting suggestions and questions were collected from the public, which will be taken into account both in the competition and in the further process. In the summarizing documentation you can get an overview of the event with all its program points.

May 2023 - Pocket money project / waste collection campaign

Every 14 days on Mondays, up to eight young people clean up squares and paths in Klarenthal for an hour as part of a team and earn five euros for each hour worked. The campaign also includes a lot of talk about waste avoidance, plastic alternatives and other ecological education topics.

The former school grounds of the Carl von Ossietzky School, which is still a popular green space even after the school closed, were also cleared of litter.

April 2023 - Street Culture Days, graffiti workshop

During the Easter vacations, the Klarenthal district center and MOJA e.V. organized a 3-day series of workshops for young people. As part of the Street Culture Days, a graffiti workshop took place from 3 to 6 April on the former school grounds of the Carl-von-Ossietzky-Schule south of Ernst-von-Harnack-Straße in Klarenthal. 8 children aged 12 to 16 gave free rein to their creativity. The results can be admired on the outside wall of the old school building.
