Zahn, Nora

Managing Director of the German Golf Association

born: 05.02.1902 in Berlin

died: 30.10.1968 in Wiesbaden

Zahn was one of Germany's top amateur golfers in 1925 before she also took on organizational tasks when she joined the General Secretariat of the German Golf Association (DGV) in Berlin in 1929. In 1933, the office moved to Wiesbaden. Zahn took over the management and became an executive member of the DGV's executive committee in 1936. In addition to the office work, she was responsible for organizing the Wiesbaden Association Days and the major national and international championships.

Thanks to Zahn's good contacts at home and abroad, it was possible to unite the remaining golf clubs in the "Golf Working Committee" shortly after the Second World War. The DGV was newly founded from this institution on October 18, 1949 at Zahn's invitation in Bad Ems. It set up a provisional office in Wiesbaden.

During her almost 40 years as an official in the DGV, she was always active as a member of the board of the Wiesbadener Golf-Club e.V. and for decades as a player in the club's ladies' team. Her greatest sporting success was winning the German senior championship in 1956.
