German Golf Association

The German Golf Association was founded on May 26, 1907 in Hamburg by the eight leading golf clubs in Germany as an umbrella organization for all golf clubs and golf course operators. The Wiesbaden history of the German Golf Association begins with the appointment of the Wiesbaden club president Karl Henkell as the association's leader in 1933. This also meant that the office, whose management was transferred to Nora Zahn, was based in Wiesbaden, where it is still located today. Since the so-called Aryanization of golf began in 1938, two former presidents had to emigrate.

After the Second World War, the German Golf Association was dissolved by the Allies and the golf courses were taken over by the occupying forces. The former clubs were held together in a working committee by Nora Zahn. At a meeting of this committee on October 18, 1949 in Bad Ems, the German Golf Association was re-established. In the mid-1950s, the courses were returned by the Allies and golf took off again. The office was located in Viktoriastrasse until 2009, but then moved to Kreuzberger Ring in Erbenheim due to a lack of space.
