Trautner, Han(n)s August Martin

Local poet, actor

born: 17.10.1893 in Wiesbaden

died: 10.12.1976 in Wiesbaden

Trautner received his first acting training in 1913 in Bad Helmstedt, and in 1914/15 he took classes at the Frankfurt theaters. From 1922-24 he was a lector in Westphalia. He later sang songs on the lute in small towns in the Harz Mountains and recited his own and others' poems. His work as an actor resulted in the dramas "Bürger und Gaukler" (premiered in Wernigerode in 1931) and in 1934 the peasant legend "Der Spielhof und sein Knecht", which was staged at the Wiesbaden State Theater.

In the post-war period, Trautner returned to Wiesbaden. He wrote the local farce "Juckmich", which he staged at the Kolpinghaus in 1951, a play with music and song in which he depicted the Wiesbaden years before the outbreak of the First World War. Trautner himself had taken on the title character of "Juckmich", a Wiesbaden original.

In addition to his work as an editor, he wrote many articles, essays, short stories and poems and dedicated himself to local choral singing and the Wiesbaden carnival. His Wilhelm Busch evenings proved him to be a unique interpreter of the "Weisen von Wiedensahl". With his publication "Das kleine Buch von Wiesbaden" (1954), he introduced strangers and locals alike to the endearing aspects of his home town.
