Catholic Family Education Center Wiesbaden
The Catholic Family Education Center Wiesbaden, based in the Roncalli House, is an institution of the Diocese of Limburg. The Catholic Church in Wiesbaden has been offering family-related events since 1975, at that time still under the umbrella of Catholic Adult Education (KEB). At that time, preparation for the birth of a child, baby care, health care and home economics were the focus of the range of topics, but in the following years the emphasis shifted more towards pedagogy, psychology and social networking. The services offered by the Catholic Family Education Center are aimed at mothers, fathers and other parents. At present, the main focus is on strengthening parenting skills and supporting families in the various phases of their lives.
The Catholic Family Education Centers receive their mandate both from the state (based on the Child and Youth Welfare Act (KJHG) § 16) and from the Church (Synod Paper of the German Bishops, 1975, and Social Word of the Churches, 1997).
