Flössner, Gerda
Pianist, music teacher
Born: 25.03.1920 in Wiesbaden
died: 06.03.2011 in Wiesbaden
Franz Flössner 's wife was a master student of Joseph Pembaur and Walter Gieseking, among others, and gave concerts at home and abroad under conductors such as Carl Schuricht, Hans Rosbaud and Karl Elmendorff. Her playing was characterized by a special sense of timbre and differentiated touch. In addition to the piano repertoire, she was particularly interested in chamber music and lieder.
She taught at the University of Mainz and at the seminary of today's Wiesbaden Music Academy, for whose foundation - as well as that of the Wiesbaden Music & Art School - she was a committed advocate.
Her grave is in the North Cemetery.
