Lawyer

Born: 22.04.1855 in Wörsdorf

died: 14.04.1929 in Wiesbaden

Alberti studied law and political science in Heidelberg, Bonn and Berlin, returned to Wiesbaden after completing his doctorate and took over the office of Friedrich Schenck, a former member of the Nassau state parliament, in 1883. Through him, Alberti came into contact with the cooperative movement, to which he became professionally committed. From 1909 onwards, he was chairman of both the select committee and the general committee of the German Cooperative Association as well as head of the German Cooperative Days. From 1892, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of the "Vorschussverein zu Wiesbaden", a bank for trade and commerce organized as a cooperative. In 1895, Alberti took over the chairmanship of the Vorschussverein, from which Wiesbadener Volksbank emerged in the 1970s. He was a member of the city council for over 30 years. In 1902, he was elected deputy chairman and in 1916 chairman, a position he held until 1923. From 1918-19, he also served as the city's deputy chief of police.

From 1893 to the mid-1920s, he was a member of both the Nassau municipal state parliament in Wiesbaden and the provincial state parliament of Hesse-Nassau, first as a member of the Freisinnige Volkspartei/Freisinnige Vereinigung (until 1910), then for the Fortschrittliche Volkspartei (until 1918) and subsequently for the Deutsche Demokratische Partei (DDP). In 1918, he served as chairman and president of both houses of parliament. Alberti retired from active political life in the mid-1920s. The Wiesbaden DDP honored his achievements by awarding him the honorary chairmanship.
