On the occasion of the company's 100th anniversary in 1964, the Dyckerhoff cement plant(Dyckerhoff GmbH), together with the city of Wiesbaden, donated the pedestrian bridge over the Schierstein harbor entrance at river kilometer 506 of the Rhine. After a three-year planning and construction phase, the structure was completed in 1967. For the first time in Germany, lightweight concrete developed by Dyckerhoff was used for the prestressed concrete construction to reduce the weight. Thanks to the cantilever construction method, shipping remained unaffected during the construction of the bridge. A total of 160 cubic meters of lightweight concrete and 240 cubic meters of normal concrete were used. The bridge arch of around 95 meters spans the 80-meter-wide harbour entrance with a crown height of 16 meters to allow the ships of the Waterways and Shipping Directorate to pass through even at high tide. The bridge is three meters wide and has a total length of 150 meters. The Dyckerhoff Bridge allows a complete tour around the harbor basin, which was built in 1858, and offers a unique view of the Rhine and the Schierstein harbor promenade.
