Bellevue Hall

The former dining room of the Hotel Bellevue in Wilhelmstrasse now offers space for contemporary art.

The Bellevue Hall is located in house no. 32 in Wilhelmstrasse and was the dining room of the renowned Hotel Bellevue for decades. With its Art Nouveau-style ceiling, it is a listed building. When the city moved into the building in 1987 and the cultural department took up residence here, the municipal exhibition activities began the following year under the name "Galerie Bellevue".

In 1993, the gallery was threatened with closure due to a shortage of funds. At that time, the Verein zur Förderung künstlerischer Projekte mit gesellschaftlicher Relevanz e. V.(Kunstverein Bellevue-Saal) stepped into the breach and from then on was responsible for the exhibition program with its own concept and financial support from the city. Eight exhibitions of contemporary art take place every year.
