African swine fever: two new general rulings come into force
The restrictions intended to prevent the spread of African swine fever (ASF) are being relaxed in some places.
Two further general rulings will adapt the restrictions to the current animal disease situation. There are no significant changes in restricted zone I. However, many people in Restricted Zone II will benefit from the easing of restrictions there. Only a small area at Schiersteiner Hafen, the Schiersteiner Aue, remains fully regulated. This is the area south of the Hessenwasser fence, bordered to the east by the Dyckerhoff Bridge and to the west by the border with the Rheingau-Taunus district in Niederwallufer Bay. Hunting is still absolutely prohibited here. The obligation to keep dogs on leads and the prohibition of walking on paths also remain in place here. In the remaining parts of Restricted Zone II, the hunting ban is being relaxed and the obligation to keep a lead and the ban on walking on paths are no longer in force.
A map with the exact boundaries is available at wiesbaden.de/asp. Citizens can also find further information here. Wild boars found dead must be reported immediately to the Wiesbaden Veterinary and Consumer Protection Office, telephone (0611) 890770, during office hours from Monday to Friday, or to the relevant local police station outside office hours. You can find out which police station is responsible outside the working hours of the Veterinary Office and how to contact them at www.polizei.hessen.de/meine-polizei-vor-ort.
All requirements are intensively monitored by the officers of the municipal police.
