Author reading on World Book Day

In "zu lieben", Ulrike Draesner tells a very personal and touching story not only about the bureaucratic hurdles of an international adoption, but also about identity, communication and parenthood. On Monday, April 28, she will present "zu lieben" at 7:30 pm at the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine, Frankfurter Straße 1.

The author reading will take place as part of World Book Day and will be moderated by the independent critic Beate Tröger (DLF and FAZ). The event is organized by the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine/Kulturamt Wiesbaden.

It begins with a phone call. Long years of waiting lie behind them, then the news: it could work out. They adopt a child from Sri Lanka and are suddenly a small family. "zu lieben" tells the profound story of a love between mother and child that grows steadily as it gradually breaks down between the couple.

Ulrike Draesner was born in 1962 and is one of the most important and versatile authors of our time. She has received numerous awards for her work. In 2009, she held the Wiesbaden poetry lectureship "Junge Autor:innen" and received the Orphil Poetry Prize from the state capital of Wiesbaden in 2016 and the Grand Prize of the German Literature Fund in 2021.

Tickets are available in advance at a price of 12 euros, concessions 9 euros, plus advance booking fee at the Wiesbaden Tourist Information Office, Marktplatz 1, telephone (0611) 1729930; online via the Literaturhaus homepage. At the box office on site, admission costs 15 euros, concessions 11 euros.
