Lord Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende was delighted with the result of the competition and confident about the next steps towards realization: "Elsässer Platz offers great potential for the city districts and the neighbourhood to be transformed into an attractive urban park. In addition to the social benefits of such an offer, the planned urban greenery is of enormous importance in effectively countering the effects of climate change.
The project is funded by the urban development program "Growth and Sustainable Renewal" in Hesse. This makes it a building block for the creation and enhancement of green and blue infrastructure. The recommendations for action for Elsässer Platz are set out in the integrated urban development concept (ISEK) Zukunft Stadtgrün Wiesbaden-Innenstadt + Süd. They already formed the basis for the competition brief.
