Public space: living space for everyone

The pedestrian zone as an important public space
The pedestrian zone as an important public space

Streets, squares, parks and the cityscape shape people's awareness of their city. They are places of encounter, exchange and daily life. An attractive public space increases the quality of life and makes Wiesbaden interesting for residents and visitors. Public spaces create identification and belong to everyone.

The City of Wiesbaden is responsible for the planning, maintenance and further development of public spaces. Different user groups come together here: pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, tradespeople and recreational users as well as children, young people and adults use the spaces differently. Public space also shows how a city is changing - economically, socially and architecturally.

Wiesbaden is facing up to this challenge. The aim is to adapt public space to new needs, resolve conflicts of use and counteract undesirable developments. In this way, the city remains liveable for everyone.
