History

Bierstadt was first mentioned in a document in 927 as "Birgidesstat", named after the Irish national saint Brigida. The historical significance of the district is reflected in its architecture, especially in the Protestant church. It is the oldest church in Wiesbaden and the second oldest monument in the city.

Bierstadt was an independent municipality until 1928, when it was incorporated into the state capital of Wiesbaden. Its history is still visible today: the Bierstadter Warte from 1473, a landmark of the town, can be seen on the district's coat of arms.

Location and infrastructure

Bierstadt is located directly to the east of Wiesbaden city center and covers an area of 9.22 square kilometers. The district is perfectly connected to the transport network and offers a wide range of shopping facilities and services that make life here pleasant. Particularly noteworthy is the proximity to the Aukammtal, which invites you to relax with its spa and clinic facilities and beautiful natural surroundings.

Clubs and culture

Bierstadt is proud of its vibrant club life, with more than 30 active clubs that promote social interaction and enrich cultural life. Numerous events and festivals ensure that there is always something going on - from traditional celebrations to sporting activities.

Economy and leisure

Commercial horse keeping is an important economic factor in Bierstadt. No other district in Wiesbaden has so many horse stables and gates. In addition, there are still old tree nurseries and market gardens here that date back to the imperial era.

Another highlight is the weekly market, which takes place every Friday afternoon in front of the Protestant church. This is a popular meeting place for residents and offers fresh produce as well as a special charm. The village fountain, another landmark of the district, is also located in the town center.

A highlight in Bierstadt

A meadow-like landscape has been created in the eastern part of the Aukamm valley. Behind it lies the Apothecary's Garden, a kind of school for medicinal plants.

From the statistics

People in Bierstadt like to live within their own four walls: Over 28 percent live in their own home.
