Spa Park

An idyllic retreat with mature trees, a picturesque pond and a variety of recreational opportunities - perfect for walks, relaxation and culture.

Spa Park

The Kurpark, which begins directly behind the Kurhaus, was laid out in 1852 in the style of an English landscape garden - a tradition that is still reflected today. The park landscape impresses with its diverse flora: in addition to magnolias, azaleas and rhododendrons, swamp cypresses and an old stock of trees also thrive here.

Strictly speaking, the first park from 1810 was not a spa park, but a social garden - a place for romantic walks, concerts, illuminations and fireworks. In 1855/56, the ducal horticultural director Carl Friedrich Thelemann extended the grounds with an extensive network of paths. The artfully laid out paths and the changing interplay of light and shadow constantly open up new and surprising perspectives.

The pond behind the Kurhaus invites visitors to take a boat trip and impresses with an artificial island and an impressive six-metre-high fountain. The spa gardens also offer a wide range of other activities: Joggers appreciate the extensive paths, while the spacious meadows invite you to relax.

The richly decorated concert shell offers space for entire orchestras and gives the park a special flair. At the "Nizza-Plätzchen" near the Kurhaus, you can still see columns from the old Kurhaus, which gave way to the current building in 1907. A bust here commemorates Fyodor Dostoyevsky, who found inspiration for his novel "The Gambler" in the Wiesbaden casino.

In recent years, the Kurpark has also established itself as an atmospheric backdrop for open-air concerts and sporting events.
