Lesser spotted eagle

The lesser spotted eagle is a rare bird of prey that lives mainly in forests with open meadows. It owes its name to its distinctive call, which can be heard especially during the breeding season. The small eagle feeds mainly on small mammals, amphibians and birds. As its habitat is increasingly disappearing, it is one of the most endangered birds of prey in Europe.
