Roe deer (Capreolus capreolus)
Roe deer are elegant, agile forest dwellers. In the pheasantry, you can observe our seven deer up close and learn more about their hidden life in nature.
The roe deer is the most common wild animal in our forests and is known for its graceful appearance. With its reddish-brown summer coat and the light-colored mirror on its hindquarters, it is well camouflaged. Roe deer are shy herbivores that feed on grasses, herbs and buds. In spring, the doe gives birth to her fawns, which are perfectly camouflaged with their spotted fur.
