Orpington hen (Gallus gallus f. domestica)
The Orpington hen is fluffy, calm and a hard-working egg-layer, yet the breed is threatened with extinction. In the pheasantry you can observe this endangered chicken breed in the rare "Kennfarbig" color.

The Orpington hen is a robust and friendly chicken breed known for its soft, dense plumage. Originally from England, it was bred as a versatile commercial and ornamental chicken. With its calm nature and good laying performance, it is popular with poultry farmers as well as in conservation breeding. Particularly rare are the "distinctive-colored" Orpington chickens, which are bred at the pheasantry.
Eight Orpington hens live at the pheasantry.
Their names are Sir Pickalot, Ei-leen, Lady Egg and the five other Orpington hens.
