Pheasantry Wiesbaden
Farm fox (vulpes vulpes domestica)
Our farm foxes are descended from the red fox, but their fur looks slightly different. Experience these fascinating animals up close and learn more about them and their wild relatives.
The red fox is a clever and adaptable hunter that lives in forests, meadows and even cities. Its red fur, bushy tail and pointed snout make it unmistakable. Foxes are omnivores and feed on mice, insects, berries and carrion. They are mainly active at dusk and at night and use clever strategies to find food.
The foxes living in the pheasantry come from fur farms and are so-called farm foxes. Here they find a safe home where they can live in a species-appropriate way.
The pheasantry is home to 2 red foxes, the white and black Pafu and his red companion Cleo.
